CorSport: Manganiello and VAR chief Ghersini get several calls wrong in Milan-Sassuolo | OneFootball

The officiating crew made numerous errors during yesterday’s game between AC Milan and Sassuolo at San Siro, a report has claimed.

This morning’s edition of il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) criticises not only the referee Manganiello but also the VAR chief Ghersini for their handling of the game between the Rossoneri and the Neroverdi, during which the away side ran out 3-1 winners.

The paper claims that Raspadori should have been sent off for a dangerous challenge on Bennacer in the 38th minute, because even if he retracts his leg it was after making contact high on his shin and it was endangering an opponent given the reckless nature plus the fact his studs were showing.

There should have also been a second yellow card shown to Theo Hernandez who pushed Frattesi away, raising his hands in the process while already on a yellow.

Meanwhile, the Rossoneri’s protests for a handball in the area by Ferrari were justified. The Sassuolo centre-back had his right arm resting on Chiriches’ back, but then he detaches it and moves it, ending up hitting the ball, so it should have been a spot kick.
