CorSera: Surgery cannot be excluded for Ibrahimovic as new check-up in six weeks looms | OneFootball

It cannot be excluded that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has surgery on his recent knee injury although the current plan remains conservative therapy, a report claims.

Today’s edition of il Corriere della Sera (via MilanLive) revealed what the conservative therapy will consist of: non-invasive mini-interventions, with arthroscopic technique, aimed at preserving the cartilage structure of the joint.

The Swede is suffering from chronic inflammation of the cartilage of the left knee, which is not serious but is rather annoying as it has caused swelling and pain after the recent distortion trauma suffered during Juventus-Milan.

Despite the therapy, an operation can not be ruled out as the striker will have a further consultation with his doctor in a month and a half – after the six-week therapy period – and if there is no improvement he will be forced to have surgery.

Milan are hoping to exclude that possibility, which would mean an additional stop (at least another month) for Ibrahimovic and the enforced absence in the summer retreat. Not exactly the best for an almost 40-year-old, who needs to work smoothly to make the most of. Any decision will be made no earlier than the end of June with the help of the Pittsburgh medical team .
