AC Milan found it far from easy against Venezia at San Siro last night but eventually got the job done through two second half goals.

As this morning’s edition of il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) reports, the Rossoneri found a Venezia side who were well drilled, determined and organised. However, the goal that unlocked the game came after an hour of play and things came full circle for Brahim Diaz, who had missed a big chance but then scored the opener.

Pioli certainly took some risks this time, leaving many high-level players on the bench while the depth was already dented through injuries, but he was good at correcting the approach in the second half by injecting some quality at the right time.

The paper remarks that Milan would not have won a game like this last year, with special praise aimed at Brahim Diaz for getting Milan out of trouble by scoring at the right time, as well as Theo Hernandez who entered the field in the last half hour and added the pace and quality needed.
