Zlatan Ibrahimovic was forced off during the 0-0 draw against Juventus on Sunday night with AC Milan now aware they cannot rely on him for every big game.

This morning’s edition of il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes that the Swede will not miss the derby against Inter despite a problem with his Achilles tendon that forced him to leave the match against Juventus after less than half an hour, because his injury does not worry the medical staff.

It is just inflammation of the tendon that will be back to full strength again with some rest and therapy, and the pain should pass within a few days so he will be available for the derby against Inter on February 5, which for Milan know is almost a last chance saloon in their Scudetto hopes.

Sooner or later the issue will have to be addressed though because while Milan have signed a centre-forward for the future in the 18-year-old Marko Lazetic, in the summer a more established name will surely be needed.

Andrea Belotti – whose contract with Torino is due to expire – is an increasingly concrete option and Milan are the first choice destination for him given he has been a fan of the club since childhood.
