AC Milan fans got their first glimpse of Charles De Ketelaere in competitive action on Saturday evening, and the signs were very promising.

Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) recalls how it was a gruelling negotiation that lasted almost a month, but Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara really wanted De Ketelaere as the big signing of the summer, and his first outing showed why.

The Belgian made his debut in official matches with the Rossoneri shirt in the win over Udinese and had 25 very promising minutes. The 21-year-old moved well in the middle of the field, playing the ball quickly and with great technique.

A disallowed goal showed his finishing ability, so the impressions were absolutely positive, as confirmed by Pioli at the end of the game who praised his quick adaptation.

While De Ketelaere is expected to take up the position of attacking midfielder in a 4-2-3-1, Pioli knows that he could even field a 4-3-3 if necessary given the flexibility that is present in the forward group.

The more different players with various characteristics you have, the better the chances of being unpredictable. If Brahim Diaz were to continue his positive signs after scoring and getting an assist, then Pioli would truly have plenty to call upon in attack.
