For weeks, there have been many rumours of various kinds circulating around AC Milan regarding the future of the club, but the present is what counts.

As Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes this morning, there has been talk for some time about the new sporting director, a potential change in head coach, imminent contract renewals and star players heading for the exit.

There are many distractions, but the current season is not over yet. In fact there is still the Coppa Italia to try to win and a place in Europe to try to conquer, something that Sergio Conceicao addressed in his press conference.

“You say that rumours about next season have dominated the last week, but are you kidding? I’ve been listening to these rumours for a month and a half, they practically started in the week following the success in the Supercoppa.

“I can’t control what others say. Sometimes it seems like there’s a lack of respect for those who work, but I’ve been in football for many years and I’m used to it.” It is clear, therefore, that the coach is aware of the external voices.

Among the many names that are being linked to Milan is Fabregas, but Conceiçao absolutely does not want to reduce the match at San Siro to just a battle between him and the Spaniard.

“If motivation started from this, then it would mean I’m sick and would have to go to the hospital… Motivation comes from the desire to win a difficult match against a team that has quality, with interesting players and a good technical staff. It is Milan against Como, not Conceicao against the opposing coach.”

The speculation circulating is not only about the coach. For example, there are players like Joao Felix who are playing for their futures in this final part of the season, even if at the moment the idea of him remaining seems very complicated.

Then there are some renewals that Milan is aiming to close quickly, such as that of Christian Pulisic and that of Mike Maignan, whose agreement for the renewal of the contract until 2028 was reached verbally but not formalised with signatures.

All these issues are currently on stand-by because first the appointment of the new sporting director is needed. During the break for the national teams the CEO Giorgio Furlani will have new discussions with the potential candidates.
