Fábio Carille and Corinthians have now dropped out of the Copa Libertadores places after losing a 2-1 contest away at relegation contenders CSA on Wednesday night.

Corinthians have fallen to seventh place and could be in eighth place on Thursday night should Athletico-PR earn all three points at Internacional.

The game did not start to please anyone, as both teams made a lot of mistakes in midfield and rarely figured out a way to attack.

However, after 24 minutes, Jonatan Gomez found Apodi, who separated himself from Fagner and found the bottom corner to open the scoring.

Though Corinthians took a long time to respond, but equalised just before the half-time whistle as Pedrinho took advantage of a failed clearance and smashed his shot into the top corner.

Corinthians came out of the dressing room and created a couple chances right out of the gate, but efforts from Mateus Vital and Pedrinho both went wide.

CSA responded just before the hour-mark, but Cássio was forced to make a save on Jonatan Gomez’s attempt.

Then, in the 80th minute, CSA found the winner as Ricardo Bueno headed home Celsinho’s corner.

With the win, CSA is now on 29 points, just one from safety behind Fluminense with nine games to play.
