Fábio Carille’s tenure as coach of Corinthians is over following today’s 4-1 defeat to league leaders Flamengo.
The 46-year-old was under intense pressure going into the game, and paid the ultimate price after yet another disappointing display.
Corinthians have are without a win in eight games, which has not happened at the club since 2013.
It is expected that assistant manager Fabinho Félix will take temporary charge for Wednesday’s game against Fortaleza at the Corinthians Arena.
Carille led Corinthiasn to the 2017 Brazilian Serie A. He was in charge for 69 games, and leaves with a record of 27 wins, 25 draw and 17 defeats.
“[He] is not the coach anymore. We had to take this resignation for some facts that happened. Every conversation for resignation is sad, but we had to make the decision,” said Corinthians president Andrés Sanchez.
