Corinthians president says Palmeiras and Flamengo are their rivals

In an interview with SporTV’s Grande Círculo (Great Circle) program, Andrés Sanchez, president of Corinthians, revealed who he felt were the team’s biggest rivals.

For him, Palmeiras and Flamengo are the rivals of Timão, but for different reasons.

“Palmeiras is our great rival, but Flamengo, institutionally, are our biggest opponents.

“Flamengo has grown every year and I’ve been growing my club as well.

“The others as well, however, Flamengo and Corinthians is a great match.

“So, my opinion is that, based on club size, Flamengo is a rival.

“On the field, it is obvious that Palmeiras, for me, is still our biggest rivals.”

Corinthians will face Ferroviária in the first leg of the Campeonato Paulista quarter-finals on Sunday.
