After 89 days in charge of the 2017 Brasileirão champions, Jair Ventura has been fired by Corinthians.
The defending champions had a horrific 2018 season, which saw them finish in 13th place – two points above the relegation places and just qualifying for the 2019 Copa Sudamericana on goal difference.
In 15 matches with the club, Ventura won three games, earned five draws, and lost seven contests, including both legs of the Copa do Brasil final.
Ventura was appointed on 6 September after being relieved of his duties at Santos back in July.
Santos were facing a relegation threat of their own early in the season but finished in 10th place after Cuca took over in Ventura’s place.
Fábio Carille, who managed Corinthians to their 2017 title, is expected to take the reigns once again.
He is the current manager of Saudi club Al-Wehda, who are in fourth place 11 games into the season.
