Cruzeiro lifted the 2018 Copa do Brasil trophy for the second straight year, defeating Corinthians 2-1 on aggregate.
Cruzeiro has now won the Copa do Brasil title six times â more than any other team in the history of the competition.
Robinhoâs 28th-minute goal set the tone for the visitors after Thiago Neves had put them ahead 1-0 on aggregate in the first leg.
After a JĂĄdson second-half penalty cut the deficit to 2-1, Giorgian De Arrascaetaâs 82nd-minute goal gave the Raposa an unassailable advantage late.
Needing to come back from a goal down in the second leg, Corinthians went away from their usual 4-2-4-0 to a 4-2-3-1 formation with Jonathas up top.
However, Corinthians were not able to muster any sort of attack, despite owning nearly 70 per cent possession, as their only shot on goal came from the penalty spot.
Cruzeiro saw their counterattacking brand of football pay off just before the half-hour mark when Robinho smashed home the rebound after Hernan Barcosâ initial effort his the post.
Dedé nearly put the tie to bed just minutes later, as his thunderous header hit the post from close range.
Corinthians would see their luck change just minutes into the second half when they were awarded a controversial penalty after VAR review.
JĂĄdson calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner to cut the aggregate deficit to 2-1. It was his 14th goal in all competitions in 2018.
Corinthians thought they were celebrating a spectacular goal in the 70th minute to level the final on aggregate, only for the goal to be controversially disallowed after another VAR review.
With time running out, Giorgian De Arrascaetaâs 82nd-minute goal put the tie to bed after a beautiful pass from Raniel put the Uruguayan through on goal.
With the victory, Cruzeiro automatically qualify for the 2019 Copa Libertadores group stage.
Corinthians must now focus on staying in the Brazilian top-flight, as they find themselves just four points above the relegation zone with nine matches left to play.
