Regarded as one of the most competitive leagues in the world, predicting the winner of the Championship has never been an easy task. With Burnley, Sheffield United and Luton Town all coming straight back down following just one season in the Premier League, there will be an immediate expectation that those three sides make an instant return to the top flight.

But a look at the outright winner odds with sportsbook CopyBet, shows none of the three are the favourites for the title. That position goes to Leeds United, last season’s losing play-off finalists. Despite losing a couple of their star players, Archie Gray and Crysencio Summerville, Daniel Farke’s team have been well backed in the promotion markets and are 3/1 to finish top of the pile and 11/10 to go up by any method.

Burnley are the best fancied of the three relegated teams from the Premier League, with Scott Parker’s men 15/2 shots for the title and 9/5 to bounce back at the first time of asking. Luton are 3/1 to go up with Sheffield United 7/2.

Amongst the other teams considered in with a chance of a top six spot are Queens Park Rangers who finished last season as one of the form teams, under the guidance of manager Marti Cifuentes. The Hoops are 7/2 to finish in the play-off places and 10/1 to make it back to the big time.

Few teams have enjoyed successful campaigns in the Championship without a prolific goalscorer firing them to glory and at 7/1, Leeds United forward Mateo Fernandez is the front runner in the golden boot market. Behind him is Middlesbrough’s Ivorian forward Emmanuel Latte Lath at 10/1, Norwich’s Josh Sargent at 11/1 and another Leeds attacker, Patrick Bamford, who’s a 16/1 shot.

The pick of the opening weekend fixtures sees Luton Town and Burnley go head to head on Monday night and the bookies are finding it a tough one to call. The Hatters are very narrow favourites at 7/5 for the win with Burnley 7/4 and the draw available at 11/5.

CopyBet has a host of markets available for the 2024/25 Championship season as well as specials and promotional offers which include their current 10-50 Free Bet offer for new customers. This offer provides five £10 free bets when you deposit and place one £10 qualifying bet.
