Antonio Conte has named his first competitive Napoli line-up for Saturday evening’s Coppa Italia first round match against Serie B outfit Modena, naming Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as his starting striker in the absence of Victor Osimhen.
Osimhen has not featured for the Partenopei at all during pre-season, as the club look to sell him to raise funds for other transfer targets before the close of the window later this month.
Without him, and while still waiting to strike a deal with Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku, Conte has gone with a front three of Kvaratskhelia, Matteo Politano and Giacomo Raspadori.
Behind them will be midfielders Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Stanislav Lobotka, with Pasquale Mazzocchi and Leonardo Spinazzola at left wing-back in a 3-4-3.
Summer signing Alessandro Buongiorno also starts, alongside captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo and Amir Rrahmani, with Alex Meret in goal.
Kick-off is due at 20.15 BST.
Napoli (3-4-3): Meret; Di Lorenzo, Rrahmani, Buongiorno; Mazzocchi, Anguissa, Lobotka, Spinazzola ; Politano, Kvaratskhelia, Raspadori.
Modena (3-5-1-1): Gagno; Caldara, Zaro, Cauz; Bozhanaj, Santoro, Magnino, Battistella, Cotali; Palumbo; Gliozzi.
