Coppa Italia FINAL PREVIEW | Juventus vs Inter

Juventus will look to make the most of their only shot at silverware this season as they lock horns with a high-flying Inter at Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday evening.

Juventus and Inter are the two teams that started the season on different spheres. And since then, their 2021/22 campaign has panned out in a different way. Bound to finish fourth in the league, the Old Lady will be hoping to gather some good memories for their supporters before the end of the season, while Nerazzurri eye a domestic treble.

Last season, Juventus, despite being no closer to their finest form on the field, managed to win two accolades in Suppercoppa Italiana and Coppa Italia. But having lost the former to Inter earlier this season, Bianconeri still await their first taste of glory in Massimiliano Allegri’s second spell with Juventus. Failing to win the Coppa Italia title would ensure Juve’s first trophyless season since the 2010/11 campaign.

In terms of the latest meetings, Juventus have not managed to beat Inter a single time this season. In the domestic circuit, Inter have lost just one of their last 10 games, while Juventus have got three setbacks from the same number of matches. But, in reality, it means nothing as Wednesday’s final anticipates a different sort of affair in a neutral venue.

Team News

Allegri has already confirmed that Mattia Perin, Paulo Dybala and Giorgio Chiellini will all start the final for Juventus. Dybala is likely to partner with Dusan Vlahovic in the front row. The Old Lady will miss some star names to injuries, with Kaio Jorge, Federico Chiesa, and Weston McKennie all out for the mega encounter. It is believed that Luca Pellegrini and Manuel Locatelli have made a comeback but could start the match from the bench. Mattia De Sciglio will miss the game through suspension.

The reports from Italy claim that Alessandro Bastoni is fit and could make it to the starting XI for Inter against Juve on Wednesday. Other than the doubts over his availability, coach Simone Inzaghi has no injuries and suspensions to deal with ahead of the final.

Predicted XIs

As it can be felt in the air, the oomph mirrors the making of a frenzied encounter, with multiple subplots (including the match being potentially the last final for Paulo Dybala and Giorgio Chiellini in the Juventus shirt) getting ready to play out. Nonetheless, Inter, being in the position of securing all three domestic titles, look like the favourite to kiss the respective silverware.
