Catalan Kings, Barcelona, will be hosting Atlético Madrid in this first leg of the 2024/25 Copa Del Rey Semifinals.

Catalan Form

The Catalans have dominated when this two teams first met this season, back in December. However, it was Simeone’s side who managed to close the game out in a 2-1 victory at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Comapnys. Barcelona are currently sitting on top of the La Liga rankings, sharing the place with Real Madrid. While Atletico Madrid is only a point behind them.

There were struggles at the end of 2024 on Barça’s part, however, they are still yet to lose since the start of the year. Fans are hoping that the strong form will be carried over into the decisive part of Flick’s Barcelona Era, including a Copa del Rey Trophy on top of the Supercopa Silverware.

Yamal Status

Reports came in that Yamal has suffered a cut on his left foot against Las Palmas not more than 3 days ago. But optimism runs high in the Catalan camp as it seems that Yamal would be available vs. Atléti. In the instance that Flick would let Yamal rest, there still is a second leg to look forward to. But a win would really be big, as the second leg would be played at the Metropolitano.

Prediction

As the lineups have yet to be disclosed. These are just my personal prediction and statements. Araujo MIGHT return to the Starting XI after just sitting out against Las Palmas. Fermin and Olmo are sharing time playing as the No. 10. While Gavi, De Jong, and Casado all rotate in the midfield. Yamal might be in as Flick sounded positive about Yamal’s ability to participate. Although, let’s wait till the official lineup will be released, and take this statement with a grain of salt.

Personal Prediction: 3-2 Barcelona. What’s yours?
