Contrary reports suggest Manchester United are interested in free agent Ramos

Contrary to reports we brought you earlier this week from the Daily Mail, new claims suggest Manchester United will consider a move for departing Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.

The Mail understood that United will not pursue a deal to sign Ramos on a Bosman this summer because the club is said to still be unhappy with his agent’s behaviour from *that* 2015 saga, and a move to PSG is suggested as the most likely outcome.

However, French outlet RMC (H/t Get Football News France & MEN) says United, PSG and Sevilla are all interested in signing the Spaniard, who was snubbed from the Spain squad for Euro 2020 this summer.

Ramos previously used United’s interest as a bargaining chip in contract talks with Real Madrid six years ago, and we’d like to see the club prioritise a move for fellow Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane instead.

Signing Ramos wouldn’t fill me with confidence ahead of next season when Varane is clearly on the market.

We need to make the right signing. Think long term.
