Inter have already started up contract extension talks with striker Edin Dzeko and his representatives.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that both parties are keen to reach an agreement on a new deal, although there is work to be done agreeing terms.

Dzeko’s form this season and his continued importance to the team have meant that Inter have little doubt about wanting to secure the Bosnian’s future.

However, the fact that the former Roma, Manchester City, and Wolfsburg striker currently earns €5.5 million net per season on a contract until the end of June 2023 means that the club and player will have to negotiate on lower salary terms.

The player would be willing to accept a reduction in his wages to stay at Inter, but how much has yet to be agreed upon.

Meanwhile, Dzeko wants a new two-year deal, whilst the Nerazzurri prefer a one-year contract extension with the option of a further season.
