While Arsenal and Chelsea clash in the Conti Cup Final, the Manchester clubs meet Merseyside opposition in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

Manchester City, whose Steph Houghton has announced her retirement, will return to the top of the WSL table if they avoid defeat at fourth-placed Liverpool and the second Saturday lunchtime kick-off sees Aston Villa face a Leicester City side who have now sacked manager Willie Kirk.

Manchester United entertain Everton in Sunday’s first WSL fixture, followed by West Ham home to Brighton at 3pm as the Hammers look to extend their six-point lead over bottom side Bristol City. West Ham will be without Katrina Gorry for the rest of the campaign, after sustaining an ankle injury against Chelsea.

At the same time in Molineux Stadium, Arsenal and Chelsea contest the Conti Cup Final, the Gunners having won six and been three times runners-up in twelve editions on the competition. Emma Hayes’ side have lifted the trophy twice but lost the last two finals, including a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal last season in front of a crowd of over 19,00 at Selhurst Park. Well over 15,000 tickets have been sold for the showdown in Wolverhampton.

The five-team battle for the Barclays Women’s Championship title continues, with leaders Sunderland away to basement side Watford at Vicarage Road, the Hornets six points from safety and just four games left.

Crystal Palace are one point off top spot and on the road to Durham, who are four points clear of the relegation zone. Charlton Athletic and Birmingham City both trail the leaders by four points ahead of their clash at The Valley, Southampton are in a similar position and home to Lewes, who could escape the bottom two win a win. Reading are two points better off than the Rooks and have home advantage over Blackburn Rovers, while form teams London City Lionesses and Sheffield United go head-to-head looking for fourth straight victories.
