Napoli coach Antonio Conte has spoken of his excitement  to meet up with his former player Cesc Fabregas again when the two meet in the dugout for Friday’s Serie A clash between the Partenopei and Como. ‘We shared important moments together.’

Conte and Fabregas had two years working together at Stamford Bridge, which resulted in a 2016-17 Premier League title win, plus the FA cup in 2017-18.

Now head coach of Como, where he ended his playing career, Fabregas is in charge of an exciting team that has recently picked up seven points form their last three Serie A outings.

Conte believes that his former apprentice will cause plenty of difficulty for Napoli at the Stadio Maradona on Friday evening.

Conte praises Fabregas and Como turnaround

“With Cesc, we won the Premier League title with Chelsea, we shared important moments together. I always thought he could become a coach, he played in the middle of the pitch, he was someone who always asked why certain things were done. I’m happy for him,” Conte said during his pre-match press conference on Wednesday.

“His journey is picking up quickly, it’s a great journey so far, but he’s proving that he’s very prepared in every aspect as well.”

Conte believes that Como deserved to win their recent game against Bologna 2-0, despite the scores eventually settling at 2-2. Since then though, Como have gone on to pick up back-to-back 3-2 wins against Atalanta and Hellas Verona.

“Como are a revelation, they could have got nine points from their last three games. They beat Bologna, a Champions League team, 2-0, then they beat Atalanta, which is not a walk in the park, and then Verona.

“They have quality and lots of their players have great futures: Fdera, Nico Paz, Perrone and they also have experience with Cutrone, who is having an incredible start, Sergi Roberto, they will give us problems.”
