Speaking ahead of his Inter side’s match against Genoa, Antonio Conte – his words transcribed in Sky Sport Italia – reflected on the state of his team-building at Inter, insisting on the long-term nature of his project at the club.

The manager also spoke about the team’s draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach, stating that Inter showed intensity and a good mentality despite some errors.

“We have to give 100% to try and get results, beyond the performance. Sometimes that happens, other timees it doesn’t. We can take Klopp’s Liverpool as an example – they won nothing for four years but are now a powerhouse. They were pleased in that time because they were building something important.”

“We’re also building something important, and the path that we’ve all taken together is the right one. Even from the outside you can tell that Inter is a well-grounded club which is stabilising itself with respect to the previous years.”

“Against the Germans in the Champions League we were superior in terms of intensity, maybe you’ve formed your opinions based on the result. Looking at the performance I consider myself satisfied with the mentality [of the players], the idea is always to play as a big team. In the last three games there have been negative factors for us.”
