Antonio Conte is worried that Dejan Kulusevski could be out until the World Cup as his injury has ‘worsened’ from the last update.

Spurs haven’t had much luck when it comes to injuries recently and things could get worse for Conte’s side.

Kulusevski had picked up a hamstring injury whilst on international duty for Sweden. The 22-year-old has not featured for Spurs since their 6-2 win over Leicester back in September.

The Swedish winger had been an important player for Conte and has been sorely missed in recent matches.

It was initially hoped that his injury was nothing serious, although Conte’s latest update will come as worrying news.

Conte explained in his press conference (via Football London): “His recovery was going well and then one day the situation worsened. When this happens you have to restart.

“You need time, you need time. We have the medical department to face injury situations and they have to face it in a short period. If you are good to solve it in a quick way then it can mean points.

“I think we have to wait a bit of time to see him with us. It was the same for Richarlison.”

Richarlison sustained an injury against Everton and his absence, along with Kulusevski has left Spurs light up front.

Against Man United, Conte’s side only managed to register two shots on target and they struggled for creativity.

Since their 6-2 demolition of Leicester, Spurs have looked fairly blunt in front of goal.

Conte’s side have scored four goals across their last four Premier League matches and they are in need of a spark.

Conte added: “When you have a Kulusevski injury and Richarlison. Lucas is not ready to start and then for sure this type of situation creates you a big difficulty.

“We have in this moment Harry and Sonny in good health. Fingers crossed, I hope to continue otherwise I have to put on the shoes to play!”

Next up for Spurs is a tricky test against Newcastle, who currently boast the best defensive record in the league.

When asked about Newcastle, Conte explained: “You can see you have to consider Newcastle for the future as a dangerous team, for the title and to win trophies. They have had the potential to go into the market and to become one of the best teams in England.

“For this reason many clubs have to pay great attention because in my opinion I see Newcastle in the future being really dangerous.”

Spurs do currently sit third in the table, but they have played one game more than both Chelsea and Man United.
