Antonio Conte reveals Napoli have been trying multiple systems following Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s injury and notes that Italian football’s level ‘has risen’, especially in Europe.

Napoli will visit Udinese on Saturday. They have lost two consecutive matches against Lazio, first in Coppa Italia and then in Serie A.

Italian media suggested David Neres would replace Kvara, but Conte didn’t confirm it.

“You’ll see tomorrow. I haven’t yet decided who will play,” the coach said at a press conference, as quoted by Tutto Napoli.

“Tomorrow, you will see my decisions and everyone’s contribution. We still have a training session left at the hotel tomorrow.

“We have tried different systems, and we’ll see which is best for this game.”

Napoli’s routine and attitude didn’t change in the build-up to this game, noted Conte.

“It’s the same way as usual. Work, work and work,” he said.

“We are happy with what we have done, with the work and the energy here at Castel Volturno with the lads, the fans and all the positive things, but we can improve in everything.

“The mentality must continue growing, and these falls must strengthen it. We’ll see the response tomorrow.”

Napoli’s latest opponent, Lazio, beat Ajax 3-1 in the Europa League on Thursday and are the table leaders in the competition after six rounds.

Conte on the state of Italian football and Udinese

“We realise the strength of Serie A clubs and what they are doing in Europe,” said Conte.

“Lazio beat Ajax by changing nine players from those that beat us in Coppa Italia. The level of Italian football has risen. There are no easy games, and you struggle against every opponent.”

What does he expect from Udinese?

“They are a very good team with physical players. The coach is in his first season here but is doing well. We must respect them and be at our best.”

Will Napoli’s approach make the difference tomorrow?

“It will be important, like the intensity and the desire we must keep for the entire match,” concluded Conte.

“The game is not decided in the opening 15 minutes or in the last ones but across 95 minutes.”
