Conte eyeing continued league progress ahead of Foxes clash

Antonio Conte’s unbeaten start in the Premier League as our Head Coach has already seen him make Spurs history, but he doesn’t want to stop there.

After earning a 1-1 draw with Southampton in our meeting at St Mary’s on 28 December, Antonio became our first-ever manager in the competition to remain undefeated after their first seven games. He has since extended that to eight with our 1-0 win over Watford on New Year’s Day and now, with Wednesday’s trip to Leicester in his sights, he is eager to keep that run going.

Despite remaining unbeaten against the Foxes in his six meetings with them to date, Antonio knows we will have to be at our best to earn a positive result at the King Power, especially with a handful of players still unavailable for us through injury and Brendan Rodgers’ side always proving a challenging adversary.

“I think that we have to try to continue to have good results in the league – that is very important,” he said in his pre-match press conference. “We know very well that only after the international break (25 January – 2 February), the injured players will be ready to come back into the squad and it will be very important to overcome this period because it is not easy to play many games while you have many injuries in the squad.

“For sure, our priority is the Leicester game. (They are) a really good team and, in the last few years, they won a title, they won an FA Cup and a Community Shield,  so they are showing that they are doing important things in England. And now, Leicester are a reality, not a surprise.”
