Napoli manager Antonio Conte embraces pressure amid Partenopei’s relentless Serie A title battle against reigning holders Inter. Speaking at the press conference via TMW, Conte reiterated Napoli’s unwavering desire to challenge the Nerazzurri for the Scudetto until the end.

“We are the direct antagonists of Inter and will try to do something extraordinary, to put that pressure on them,” the Napoli boss admitted. “It means we are doing remarkably well, in a situation where we are asked to go beyond our capabilities to keep up with a team that proved it is built to win everything in Europe too.”

Inter’s 3-1 home win against Cagliari on Saturday evening extended their lead to Napoli to six points. However, Conte’s charges can make it three again on Monday when they take on bottom-half Empoli at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

“It’s a good pressure to have, there is enthusiasm among the fans, the dream of competing for the Scudetto is firing them up,” the Napoli coach added. “We earned this pressure, this battle of nerves, and we must also enjoy fighting for something important.

“The fans can sense that the team is going beyond its limitations and that can only be appreciated.”

Napoli could’ve started the round only a point behind Inter. However, a 1-1 draw at Bologna on Monday threw a spanner in the works, condemning the three-time Italian champions to a seventh winless Serie A outing across their last nine.

Therefore, Napoli cannot afford further slip-ups down the final stretch.
