A superb campaign in 2018/19 saw Wolves earn a place in this season’s Europa League but it looked like they would pay a hefty price.

Playing six qualifying matches before the group stage, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side started their competitive season way back on 25 July.

“A lot of people wanted to use that as an excuse at the start of the season but we didn’t,” captain Conor Coady told the Express and Star.

After a slow start to the Premier League season, Wolves found themselves winless and 19th after six matches.

They’ve since recovered, though, winning three and drawing three of their last six games to rise to eighth in the table.

It’s fair to say the Europa League is definitely not considered a burden at Molineux.

“We don’t see it that way,” Coady continued.

“We love playing in Europe, it is a fantastic competition.

“Every one of the lads will tell you that we want to be there, we want to impose ourselves, play the way we do and give a good account of ourselves,

“Up to now we have been doing that, but it is important that we focus on the Premier League games because this is what we do every week.

“This is everything to us and we want to make sure we are doing it right.”

Another busy week is in the pipeline, as the club play Bournemouth on Saturday before travelling to Braga for a crucial Europa League match on Thursday.
