James Norwood opened the scoring for Ipswich in the ninth minute of the clash as he fired past goalkeeper Jamie Cumming.

Wes Burns then doubled his side’s advantage by netting his fourth league goal of the season at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium.

Macauley Bonne ended his goal drought by adding a third for Ipswich as he converted from Matt Penney’s cross.

Following the break, Daniel Phillips was given his marching orders after being shown a second yellow card by referee Alan Young.

Chaplin scored Ipswich’s fourth goal of the contest from the penalty spot as his side sealed a comfortable victory.

As a result of this triumph, the Tractor Boys moved up to 10th in the League One standings.

After the game, Chaplin took to Instagram to offer his thoughts on the club’s latest performance.

Accrington Stanley?

Yes No

The Verdict

After producing a relatively encouraging cameo display against Gillingham, Chaplin will now be hoping to play a key role for Ipswich as they look to close the gap between them and the play-off places in the coming months.

Currently averaging a WhoScored match rating of 6.50 in the third-tier, the former Barnsley man knows that he will need to step up his performance levels in order to claim a regular spot in the club’s starting eleven.

With Ipswich set to face Bolton Wanderers next weekend, it will be intriguing to see whether Kieran McKenna decides to make any alterations to his side for his particular fixture.

If Chaplin is handed another chance to prove his worth in this fixture, he will need to deliver the goods against the Trotters as competition for places in the attacking areas at Ipswich is particularly fierce.
