Connected Chelsea journalist the latest to drop big hint on Blues signing striker | OneFootball

Now this one really just does have a feel of something potentially heating up behind the scenes, Chelsea potentially signing a new striker.

We know they have Nicolas Jackson, but I think everyone can be in agreement that Jackson needs some help, and he also needs some competition.

He is being criticised again at the moment for not scoring enough goals and missing easy chances, which to be fair, he does do too much at the moment. But Jackson is a great player and just needs to have some of the goal-scoring pressure taken off him whilst also pushed hard by competition coming in – he does not have that right now at Chelsea.

Chelsea continue to be linked to Liam Delap of Ipswich Town, and many connected insiders to Chelsea have been mentioning his name a lot, which makes me believe that something could truly be sparking up there.

And today, another connected Cheslea journalist has name-dropped Delap again.

Kieran Gill of The Daily Mail reports that Liam Delap is one striker being tracked particularly closely by Chelsea.

He doesn’t add anything else, but to even mention him in another article he wrote about Nicolas Jackson to me smells a bit fishy.

I am obviously just speculating a lot here, but I would not be surprised at all if we hear about an offer going in from Chelsea to Delap in the next days as we approach the latter end of the January transfer window. And even if that doesn’t happen, I’d fully expect Chelsea to approach them for him in the summer, as he is clearly a striker at the very top of their shortlist right now.
