Confusion surrounding Ten Hag: Is Bayern still interested?

Erik ten Hag has repeatedly been mentioned as a candidate in FC Bayern’s search for a coach. Reports in England suggest that Munich are still hoping to sack the Dutchman at Manchester United. In Germany, however, Sky is reporting that ten Hag is no longer on Bayern’s shortlist.

Now that it has been clear since last week that Bayern coach Tuchel will definitely not be on the Munich sidelines next season, information from England suggests that Ten Hag is once again playing a role in the plans of the Bayern bosses. As the English Mirror reports, the German record champions believe that the coach will be sacked by Manchester United after the season.

The reason for this is that Manchester United have fallen far short of their own expectations this season. With eighth place in the table, they will not take part in any European competition next year. This is United’s worst placing since the league was renamed in 1992.

A duel with Ajax?

This means that ten Hag could be on the Red Devils‘ touchline for the last time on Saturday. The FA Cup final against Manchester United kicks off at 4pm. If the coach is indeed sacked, a duel between Bayern and Ajax Amsterdam could ensue, according to the Mirror. The Dutch record champions are desperate to win back their former coach, while the Munich club could make the Dutchman their new transfer target, according to the report. Ten Hag has already coached the German record champions‘ second team in the past.

However, according to Sky in Germany, Ten Hag is no longer on Bayern’s list of candidates. Vincent Kompany, on the other hand, is probably a hot candidate. According to information from the pay-TV channel and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Bayern bosses have already held talks with the current coach of relegated Premier League side Burnley.
