Sevilla star Adnan Januzaj has this evening made use of the opportunity to hit back at sporting director Victor Orta.
This comes after Orta was earlier in the day responsible for a public jibe of his own, at the Belgian.
Drawn on the club’s failure to move Januzaj – who has managed just 186 of La Liga football this season – on during the January transfer window, the Sevilla chief did not hold back, in laying the blame directly at the doorstep of the attacker:
“He had offers from Scotland, Turkey and France, but for him not having minutes is not a problem,” Orta sniped, as cited by Sport.
As alluded to above, though, Januzaj was evidently not prepared to take such an insinuation lying down.
In turn, taking to his official social media platforms on Friday evening, the former Manchester United talent responded, in altogether no-nonsense fashion.
Adamant that the transfer proposals put before him were not suitable for various reasons, Januzaj accused Orta of behaving in an ‘inappropriate and painful’ manner.
Check out the 28-year-old’s statement in full below:
“Víctor Orta does not tell the truth and he knows perfectly well what my thoughts have been at all times. Orta points out and accuses me with a series of comments that are absolutely out of place. I state that in no case have I refused to leave Sevilla, a circumstance in which it has most affected his work and procedure, without real options that would satisfy all parties.”
“Yes, there were some offers, but I discarded them because I did not consider them to be the right destinations for various reasons. That Víctor Orta charges against me, or against any footballer in the current squad, seems inappropriate and tremendously painful to me. I want to show that I can reverse the situation.”
