Steve Bruce and his team needing to bounce back from starting the season with a nightmare four defeats and a fortunate draw.

Ahead of today’s match, Steve Bruce gave an update on the injury and fitness / availability front on Thursday.

Martin Dubravka is still out, following surgery for a broken metatarsal.

The same with Callum Wilson and his thigh problem, whilst Jonjo Shelvey’s calf injury means he still won’t be available either.

The Newcastle United Head Coach also stating that Paul Dummett is still unavailable with his latest injury.

Steve Bruce said that Ryan Fraser was now available after recovering from an injury picked up on international duty.

Whilst Bruce also said that after picking up knocks against Man Utd, the likes of Willock, Clark and Manquillo are all fine now.

The confirmed Newcastle team v Leeds:

Newcastle United:

Darlow, Manquillo, Hayden, Lascelles, Clark, Ritchie, Sean Longstaff, Almiron, Willock, Saint-Maximin, Joelinton

IN:

Darlow

OUT:

Woodman

So in total, just the one change to the team that started against Man Utd.

Subs:

Gillespie, Schar, Lewis, Hendrick, Krafth, Fernandez, Murphy, Fraser, Gayle

A major surprise to see Freddie Woodman missing altogether.

He was seen in training photos released by the club on Wednesday but on Friday night the official site says / claims that a ‘hip injury’ is the reason for his total absence from the NUFC matchday squad.
