Newcastle United looking to give a good showing for their fans down under, in this post-season friendly.

A rare chance for Newcastle United fans in Australia and ‘nearby’ countries to be able to see their team in the flesh.

Eddie Howe travelled with a squad of 29 players.

This match at the Marvel Stadium against the A-League All Stars kicking off on Friday 5.05pm local time, which is 8.05am in the UK.

Newcastle hoping to follow up their penalty shootout win against Tottenham, on Wednesday at the MCG.

Newcastle United official announcement – 19 May 2024:

The travelling party for Newcastle United’s post-season trip to Australia has been confirmed as the team prepare to head Down Under following Sunday’s final Premier League match of the season at Brentford.

Eddie Howe’s side will kick off the city’s ‘Global Football Week – Melbourne’ event against Tottenham Hotspur at the world-famous Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) at 7:45pm (all times AEST) on Wednesday, 22nd May.

Then on Friday, 24th May, the Magpies face the A-League All Star Men at 5:05pm. The venue is the Marvel Stadium in Melbourne’s Docklands.

Head coach Howe has named a 29-man squad for the two games:

The trip will mark Newcastle United’s first visit to Oceania since July 2014, when the Magpies won the Football United Tour in New Zealand with victories over Sydney FC and Wellington Phoenix.

Newcastle’s Active Fan allocation for the two games has sold out but tickets in alternate areas of the ground are still on sale to supporters wanting to back to Magpies in Melbourne.
