Michael Salisbury has been named as the referee for Manchester City’s Premier League clash against Ipswich Town at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola’s side face newly-promoted Ipswich Town in their opening home clash of the 2024/25 campaign, with Manchester City looking to secure successive Premier League victories, after an opening weekend win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester City started their latest title defence with an important three points, beating Enzo Maresca’s side 0-2 in west London, following goals from both Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic.

Ipswich Town began their Premier League campaign with a defeat to Liverpool at Portman Road, suffering a 0-2 loss as a result of quick-fire second-half goals from Mo Salah and Diogo Jota.

Kieran McKenna’s side have signed two Manchester City players this summer, adding both Liam Delap and Kalvin Phillips to their top-flight squad, with Delap completing a £20 million permanent transfer and Phillips signing on loan.

Manchester City’s summer signing Savinho could make his home debut against Ipswich this weekend, meanwhile Ilkay Gundogan could also feature, after the 33-year-old agreed to return to the Etihad Stadium on a free transfer from FC Barcelona.

Ahead of Saturday’s clash at the Etihad Stadium, the Premier League have announced the Match Officials for the fixture.

Match Referee

Michael Salisbury has been named as the referee for Manchester City’s Premier League clash against Ipswich at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The 39-year-old officiated 27 matches during the 2023/24 campaign, issuing 75 yellow cards and four red cards.

Salisbury last took charge of Manchester City in January, officiating a 0-5 win against Huddersfield Town in the Emirates FA Cup.

Assistant Referees

Salisbury will be accompanied in east Manchester by Assistant Referees Richard West and Akil Howson.

Video Assistant Referees

Overviewing proceedings will be Video Assistant Referee David Coote and Assistant Video Assistant Referee Nick Greenhalgh.

Fourth Official

Sam Allison has been named as the Fourth Official.

The referee will be overseeing conduct within the two dugouts, and the behaviour of managers Pep Guardiola and Kieran McKenna.
