ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Minamino will be disappointed to miss out on selection for the Olympics. Every player wants to represent their country.

However, Minamino will now be able to focus on Liverpool’s upcoming pre-season.

Liverpool signed Minamino from RB Salzburg for a transfer fee of €8.50 million back in January 2020.

However, Minamino has not been given much of an opportunity to play for Liverpool’s first-team.

The 26-year-old has only made 31 appearances for the Reds. With that being the case, Minamino was loaned out to Southampton for the second half of the 2020-21 campaign.

Hopefully Minamino is given more of an opportunity to play for the Reds this season. The forward is a capable footballer.
