Manchester City return to action this Saturday with a mammoth clash against former Premier League title challengers Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium.

Arsenal extended their lead at the top of the table to eight points prior to the international break, taking advantage of Manchester City’s continued involvement in the FA Cup – where they have now reached the semi-final stage.

Manchester City cruised past Vincent Kompany’s Burnley squad in the last round, with an Erling Haaland hat-trick inspiring the side to a 6-0 win on the club legend’s first return to the Etihad Stadium since venturing into football management.

Haaland has been an injury doubt in the run-up to the contest, after withdrawing from international commitments with Norway through a groin injury sustained in the closing stages of their win against Clarets.

Pep Guardiola hinted at growing uncertainty surrounding the fitness of the 22 year-old during his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon, but did say that ‘life is about risk’ – in a possible suggestion that the Norwegian could have some involvement.

Ahead of kick-off at the Etihad Stadium, Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp have now confirmed their respective starting line-ups.
