Manchester City’s newest summer recruit has taken one of the club’s vacant shirt numbers upon arriving at the Etihad Stadium this week, it has now been confirmed.

Doku is viewed by Manchester City as the natural replacement for Riyad Mahrez, after the Algerian international brought an end to his illustrious stay in the north-west earlier this summer, joining Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli for a fee in the region of £30 million.

With Pep Guardiola recently detailing the necessity for the club to have conversations about recruitment, the Catalan coach now has a new profile among his ranks, with Manchester City now confirming the much-awaited shirt number to be taken by Jeremy Doku.

The Belgium international winger will wear the number 11 shirt for Manchester City for the ongoing season and beyond, following in the footsteps of the likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Aleksandar Kolarov in recent years.

Other forwards to have worn the number 11 shirt for Manchester City in recent years include the likes of Scott Sinclair, Elano, and Darius Vassell, while supporters of the club will fondly recall the likes of Jon Macken, Paul Lake, and Mike Summerbee donning the jersey.

Jeremy Doku could show off his new look this weekend, when a Manchester City side lead by Juanma Lillo during the absence of Pep Guardiola travel to Bramall Lane for a Sunday afternoon clash with Sheffield United.

City will be looking to keep up their 100% record to the new competitive season, following victories against Burnley and Newcastle United in the Premier League, as well as a UEFA Super Cup triumph against Sevilla in Athens.
