An insight into the reasoning behind super-agent Pini Zahavi’s attendance at Barcelona’s weekend meeting with Getafe has today come to the fore.
And the news will no doubt be met with excitement on the part of those hopeful of Hansi Flick taking up the reins at the club this summer.
This comes amid confirmation that the German’s representative was indeed in Catalunya in an effort to push his client’s name as a candidate to replace the outbound Xavi.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, Flick, currently without a job, has made clear his desire to take over at Barcelona with a view to next season.
The former Bayern Munich boss is a favourite of Blaugrana president Joan Laporta, who also happens to be a close friend of the aforementioned Zahavi.
In turn, the Israeli agent – who represents Robert Lewandowski, too – made the trip to Catalunya’s capital last week ‘to pull his strings to satisfy the desire of his client’.
Zahavi held a number of meetings with Barcelona representatives, with his trip having been rounded out in Montjuïc, where he joined Laporta in the directors box for the club’s 4-0 La Liga drubbing of Getafe.
