Former Real Madrid talisman Cristiano Ronaldo has today been sanctioned with a one-match ban for Al-Nassr.

This comes owing to a gesture on the part of the Portuguese during his side’s meeting with Al-Shabab on Sunday.

En route to an eventual 3-2 triumph for Ronaldo and co, during which the veteran frontman opened the scoring, he was subjected to a fresh round of Lionel Messi chants.

As much has become something of a common theme in Al-Nassr’s fixtures of late, as opposing fans attempt to get under Ronaldo’s skin by way of hailing his greatest rival.

And, frequently, such efforts have had precisely the intended effect.

After CR7 was recently heavily criticised for shoving a scarf thrown at him by an Al-Hilal supporter into his shorts, before throwing the article back into the crowd, on Sunday, he lost his cool once more.

After Anderson Talisca bagged what proved to be the winner inside the closing five minutes at Al-Shabab, Ronaldo turned to the home crowd in Riyadh, before gesturing with his hand in and out from his pelvic region.

The act was quickly labelled as rude and even obscene by viewers, with an investigation, as a result, having been opened.

And, late on Wednesday night, Ronaldo’s fate has been confirmed.

As per Spanish outlet Marca, citing Saudi sources, the 39-year-old has been hit with a one-match suspension.

As much will be carried out on Thursday, when Al-Nassr face off against bottom of the table Al-Hazm.

Ronaldo has also been ordered to pay a fine of 30,000 Saudi Riyals, which equates to roughly 7,500.
