Italy got off to a strong start in their Women’s 2025 European Championship qualifying campaign, sauntering to a 2-0 win over the Netherlands.

The Azzurre failed to impress in their last European Championship in England back in 2022, finishing fourth in their group behind Iceland, Belgium and France, a pitiful campaign considering the positives seen at the 2023 World Cup, where they beat Argentina and almost drew a tough South Africa.

With former striker Andrea Soncin at the helm, FIFA ranked 14th Italy found themselves drawn against Norway, the Netherlands and Finland in Group A1 of the 2025 European Championship qualifiers, giving them a tough route to qualification.

The Azzurre faced off against the Netherlands at the Stadio San Vito-Gigi Marulla on Friday evening and looked positive in their first step towards Euro 2025.

Roma’s Valentina Giacinti and a 59th minute strike from Juventus’ Agnese Bonfantini.
