La Liga giants Barcelona could face serious competition in their efforts to land a leading transfer target over the final days of the window.

That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Federico Chiesa as the player in question.

The name of Juventus star Chiesa has of course proven a prominent one in Catalunya’s capital over the course of the last week.

This comes after widespread confirmation was forthcoming that those behind the scenes at Barcelona have identified the Italian international as a potential late-window addition.

After coming up short in efforts to land first-choice attacking target Nico Williams, Chiesa, whose contract in Turin is due to expire next summer, was earmarked as a potential cut-price arrival.

Safe to say, then, that the latest word stemming from the media on Monday evening will come as a source of concern for the Blaugrana.

This comes amid confirmation that another of the continent’s leading clubs have emerged as a possible landing spot for Chiesa.
