MIAMI – Four Concacaf nations will embark on the quest for the trophy as the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup is contested from August 31 to September 22 in Colombia.

The 24 competing nations have been split into six groups. Mexico will compete in Group A, Canada in Group B, the United States in Group C, and Costa Rica in Group F.

Canada and Mexico will play in the two simultaneous kickoff matches on Saturday. The United States will begin its campaign on Sunday and seeks to win the tournament for a fourth time. Costa Rica will be the final Concacaf representative to take the field for its first match on Monday.

This will be the 11th participation for Mexico at the U-20 Women's World Cup. Their best performances include reaching the quarter-finals in Germany 2010, Japan 2012, Papua New Guinea 2016, and Costa Rica 2022.

The Mexicans will take the pitch against Cameroon on August 31, then shift their focus to Australia on September 3 before concluding its participation in Group A against hosts Colombia on September 6.

Canada will be playing in its 10th U-20 Women’s World Cup. Having finished as runner-ups in 2002 on home soil (under the U-19 category), they have an overall record of 12W-1D-16L in 29 matches played.

Placed in Group B, the Canadians begin their journey against France on August 31, followed by Fiji on September 3, and finishing the group stage against Brazil on September 6.

In Group C, the United States will also be playing in its 11th U-20 Women’s World Cup. Winners at Canada 2002, Chile 2008 and Japan 2012, as well as getting third place in Thailand 2004, the USA is one of the most successful teams in this category.

Only Germany matches the U.S. with three U20 world titles, and both will seek sole ownership of being the nation with the most championships. The U.S. will start its journey on against defending champions Spain on September 1. They’ll then face Morocco on September 4 before closing the group stage against Paraguay on September 7.

Costa Rica, host of the previous edition, will participate in the tournament for a fifth time. Las Ticas also appeared in Germany 2010, and Canada 2014. As part of Group F, Costa Rica will meet the Netherlands on September 2, followed by Korea DPR on September 5, and Argentina on September 8.

The cities of Bogotá, Cali, and Medellín will host the month-long tournament. Every nation will vie to be crowned champions while showcasing its young talent in women’s soccer to the world.
