Jorrel Hato has completed his medical and will sign his Chelsea contract today according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Chelsea agreed a deal with Ajax earlier this week to sign Hato, with the fee thought to be €43m for the 19-year-old.

Hato is set to sign a seven year contract at Stamford Bridge, and will provide much needed back-up and competition for Marc Cucurella at left back.

Jorrel Hato to sign Chelsea contract

Hato will become Chelsea’s fourth summer signing after Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro, and the Dutchman is regarded as one of the best up and coming defenders in Europe.

Despite still being a teenager Hato has played over 100 games for Ajax, has captained the Dutch giants, and is a full Dutch international.

Hato can also fill in at centre back if needed, and his versatility makes him a great fit for Enzo Maresca’s system, and he could make his first appearance for the Blues next week against either Bayer Leverkusen or AC Milan.

The left back has been given permission to travel and undergo his medical and Romano has now provided an update on the deal.

He took to X.com and said:

“Jorrel Hato completed his medical and signs a seven year deal at Chelsea today.”

Chelsea working on Xavi Simons deal

With the Hato deal all but complete, Chelsea are still working on a deal to sign his Dutch team-mate Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig.

Chelsea are thought to be close to agreeing personal terms with Simons, and Leipzig are said to want a total package of £60m.

Simons has removed Leipzig from his Instagram bio and is keen on joining Chelsea, but as of yet the Blues haven’t made an official offer.

The deal is expected to go through, but it could still be a few more days until a final agreement is reached between the clubs.
