Oleksandr Zinchenko has proven to be one of the signings of the season and we’ve checked out Arsenal’s record with and without the Ukrainian full-back.

The 26-year-old was a popular figure at the Etihad during his six-year stint with Manchester City. He won a total of 10 trophies under Pep Guardiola, including four league titles.

The Gunners managed to snap him up in the summer for a fee of £30million and they haven’t looked back since. Mikel Arteta’s side now sit top of the Premier League and are five points above City.

Plenty thought that Zinchenko would have been utilised in a midfield role under Mikel Arteta, but he has continued to impress at left-back and keep Kieran Tierney out the side.

Zinchenko has played a total of 15 games for Arsenal this season, with 11 of those being starts. He has provided one assist and has looked assured in his defensive duties.

Ahead of the FA Cup fourth-round clash between Man City and Arsenal on Friday night, Pep Guardiola was asked if he regretted letting both Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus leave in the summer.

The manager told Sky Sports: “Why? Because they are winning? Alex and Gabriel had been amazing with us, they had amazing respect as people and also football players.

“I would like to beat them but all the success they had and with their families, it’s going well. I’m more than delighted. It happened because both players and clubs agreed with that.

“Many times Alex could have said ‘I want to leave’ but he stayed. Gabriel is the same. We agreed [to sell them] because they were here a lot of years and [they wanted] a new challenge and Arsenal wanted them.”

Zinchenko worked with Arteta at Man City and it’s fair to say that the Arsenal boss has been impressed with the impact he has had since joining in the summer.

Arteta told reporters: “We know that he’s a player that gives us everything that we want in that position, the versatility and [the way] he gets a lot of attention which frees up other spaces that for us is really important.

“I would especially highlight his mentality, what he brought is a real desire to win, to make something special with this team and the experiences he had in the past, I think they are very helpful to do that.”
