Burnley coach Sean Dyche addresses myths surrounding the postponement of PL tie vs Tottenham Hotspur

According to Lancs Live, Burnley manager Sean Dyche has dismissed rumours surrounding the postponement of the match against Tottenham Hotspur. The game was supposed to take place yesterday but got suspended due to adverse weather conditions.

Spurs got delayed in their travel to Turf Moor due to the weather as snowfall slowed them down en route to the stadium. Referee Peter Bankes consulted with both managers before deciding to suspend the match due to the conditions.

Some accusations suggested the undersoil heating was not working, and the Clarets took advantage of it as they wanted to cancel the game due to the injury crisis. But it is claimed that only Ashley Barnes would have been the absentee for the match due to an injury, and Dyche has now cleared up those ‘myths‘.

Sean Dyche addressed rumours surrounding the suspension.

“The players were certainly up for it and I think the crowd would have been as well. Everyone has tried. We couldn’t do anything about it in the end.”

“It was just a common sense view from the referee who gave us his and his team’s view about the surface and the conditions and all the complications that could and would have occurred certainly within the next hour and a half.”

Our insight

It is quite a conspiracy to think that the hosts purposefully suspended the game considering it does not help them in any real way. They are currently on a four-match unbeaten streak in the league and would have faced a Spurs team who were on the back of a defeat to NS Mura in the UEFA Europa Conference League. It was perhaps one of the best times for them to play against us.

Burnley vs Tottenham was suspended.

We will face Brentford next in the Premier League, and this match would have been a perfect opportunity to build some momentum before facing a solid team. While they are a newly promoted side, they have looked great this season.

They previously troubled the league leaders Chelsea and were quite unfortunate at times to not get favourable results. However, this situation would help Antonio Conte and his team get significant rest before that encounter and gain an advantage against Thomas Frank’s side.

Earlier, the North London club have announced that all the supporters, who will be travelling to attend the rescheduled fixture, would get free coach service to make up for yesterday’s suspension.
