Yael Averbuch West hosted none other than Christian Fuchs for the latest episode of Football Americana. The Charlotte FC captain provided insight into the creation of Major League Soccer’s newest expansion team, and bringing European culture into the American side.

“Alex is a young player who needs consistent minutes on the field in order to continue his development," Crew president and general manager Tim Bezbatchenko said in a club press release.

“This loan will give him the best opportunity to achieve that objective. We look forward to monitoring Alex’s progress during this loan over the coming months.”

Signed from Viitorul Constanța in March 2021 via the MLS U-22 Initiative, Matan has made 37 appearances for the Crew since, but has failed to score a goal or register a primary assist.

Matan - a 19-time Romania international across various youth levels - managed just 26 minutes across six substitute appearances in MLS this season, experiencing more joy for the club's MLS NEXT Pro team, Columbus Crew II, where he notched two assists in three appearances.

The 22-year-old joins a Rapid București side sitting second in the Romanian top-flight with nine points from their opening four games.
