Columbus Crew finalizing deal to sign USA international

The MLS transfer window continues to heat up, as two-time MLS Cup winners Columbus Crew appear to be closing in on a major deal.

The Eastern Conference club are said to be finalizing a deal to bring Vancouver Whitecaps wing-back Julian Gressel to Columbus, according to a report from the Athletic.

The 29-year-old has been a key player for the Whitecaps this season, registering three goals and five assists through 18 appearances.

While Gressel is said to have been offered a new contract by the Whitecaps, the USA international reportedly wants a move back east, having previously played for Atlanta United and D.C. United.
