Palmeiras continued their stunning form under Luiz Felipe Scolari with a 2-0 win in Chile over Colo Colo in the first leg of the Copa Libertadores quarter-finals.
Bruno Henrique and Dudu provided the goals as the Brazilians moved one step closer to a semi-final clash between the winner of Boca Juniors (2) and Cruzeiro (0).
A defensive error by Colo Colo led directly to the opening goal within three minutes.
After Esteban Paredes gave up possession deep in their own third, the ball squirted around the area and made it’s way to Bruno Henrique, who finished fantastically in the top corner.
Dudu had a chance to double the Brazilians lead in the 24th minute, but a good save by Colo Colo goalkeeper Agustín Orión kept the score at 1-0.
Just before half-time, Colo Colo had their best chance of the match.
Paredes nearly atoned for his earlier mistake with a beautiful free-kick, but Weverton made a great save.
The second half completely belonged to Palmeiras and Dudu eventually gave the Brazilians a two-goal lead.
Willian struck a stunning strike on a counterattack that hit the post and fell straight to Dudu, who buried the rebound from close range.
The two sides will meet in Brazil on 3 October.
