Manchester City are preparing to introduce youngster Cole Palmer to the first team setup this season.

The 19-year-old local lad put pen to paper on a new contract with the Citizens, agreeing to stay until 2026.

The move is surprising given he extended his deal a year ago until 2024, but the club wanted to reward him for his progress since then.

According to the Manchester Evening News, City want Palmer committed to the club as they look to integrate him with manager Pep Guardiola's first team squad.

Palmer has been praised by Guardiola in the past, with the Spanish coach likening his finishing to first team sensation Phil Foden.
