Cole Palmer has dispute with “big brother” Raheem Sterling over penalty | OneFootball

We were delighted to see the way in which Cole Palmer stepped up to take and score another penalty today. But we later saw that there had been a little argument with Raheem Sterling about who would taken it, with Sterling eventually conceding under pressure from Enzo Fernandez.

That is not what you want to see in a game where the Blues are doing well.

It’s not so much that we care about who takes it, it’s that it should be extremely clear to everyone who is on penalty duty. There should be no disputes, and no room for dispute left by the manager.  This kind of thing is not only a bad look, it also can put off the taker right when you don’t want that to happen.

Let’s not forget, they’re supposed to be great friends too. It was as recently as today that we heard Cole Palmer calling Raheem Sterling an “older brother.” This certainly had an element of this about that, but not in a positive way.
