Head of Sport Max Eberl recently announced that Bayern are in the final stages of their coaching search. According to the latest reports, there will be a major coaching summit in Munich this week.

Xabi Alonso is staying at Leverkusen, while Julian Nagelsmann, Sebastian Hoeneß and Unai Emery have extended their contracts with their current employers or are about to do so. There are hardly any names left on FC Bayern’s list of coaches. In fact, only Ralf Rangnick and Roberto De Zerbi remain.

According to consistent reports, Rangnick is the hottest contender to succeed Thomas Tuchel at the German record champions. De Zerbi is still an option, but is now only considered Plan B should FCB come away empty-handed with Rangnick.

Eberl urges a mutually agreeable decision

According to BILD, Bayern want to finalise the search for a coach as quickly as possible. Accordingly, a coaching summit is to be held on the Isar this week. The remaining names will be discussed at the meeting. The aim is to find a common consensus.

After the Nagelsmann setback, Max Eberl wants the commitment of all bosses. Club patron Uli Hoeneß and former board chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in particular are said to have recently disagreed on who would be the ideal coaching solution for the Munich club.

Bayern is confident about Rangnick

However, Eberl & Co. no longer have much to discuss, as the list of potential candidates has shrunk considerably. Everything currently points to a commitment from Ralf Rangnick. According to Sky, talks with the experienced football coach are in full swing in the background. The 65-year-old is contractually bound to the Austrian Football Association until 2026, but can imagine a move to Bayern after EURO 2024.

As ran reports, there is „great confidence“ at Säbener Straße that an agreement with Rangnick will be reached in the near future.

In Austria, however, reports are doing the rounds that the deal is still a long way from being finalised. Above all, the question of the distribution of power could become a deal-breaker in the negotiations. Rangnick is apparently pushing for „the last word“ on player transfers. A demand that will be difficult to fulfil in Munich.
