His name remains hot on FC Bayern’s coaching shortlist: apparently, the successful Spanish coach Unai Emery is still a concrete candidate for the German record champions.

Alongside Xabi Alonso and Roberto De Zerbi, Unai Emery is also on Bayern’s shortlist, as reported by tz. The 52-year-old is currently head coach at Aston Villa in the Premier League and is likely to have come to the attention of Bayern bosses due to the Villans‘ performances, among other things. Villa are fourth in the table after 29 matchdays and have been one of the biggest surprises on the island this season.

Emery began his coaching career in 2004 and has gained a wealth of experience across Europe over the past 20 years. Prior to his stint in England, Emery had already coached Almeria, Valencia, Sevilla and Villarreal in Spain. in 2012, he spent a few months on the bench at Spartak Moscow.

He won the Europa League three times with Sevilla from 2013 to 2016. He then took over top French club Paris Saint-Germain (2016-2018). Emery also spent almost 18 months under contract at Arsenal FC.
